You are right that 667 MHz will not feel any slower to the user than 800 MHz, but the computer is just not compatible. 800 MHz means that the processor reads / writes to the ram at a maximum of 800 Million Times Per Second. If you put 667 MHz ram into the computer, the processor will try to read and write faster than the ram can handle. Motherboards check the ram speed before starting the computer to avoid errors, so chances are it just won&#039;t start.</description>
