Gavin, i am having trouble capturing the “intense” colors as of the image @ 3:25, now is the lens to blame for that or my being a noob ? I have seen exceptional images with the exact equipment as mine … has your image at 3:25 had any post processing done .. any specific settings i should be looking at e.g white balance .. i shoot with a canon 550D, mostly in Av or Tv mode, but just don’t get good colors. Any tips would be appreciated. Stunning pictures and pretty helpful videos by the way.

Hi Gavin, I find all of your videos most helpful. Thanks for taking the time. One question… Which month was it when you took these, I want to make a note in my diary to hunt down that field this year. I am based in Horsham so its quite local for me.

Gavin, Why are you not using a lens hood? Is there a reason why you do or do not use a lens hood?

  • PhotoGavin

Done in camera using f4. Many of the images are also on Flickr, there’s a link in the video info. Flickr shows all the Exif data which you might find helpful.

  • muusers

Well maybe the next photo was taken at a smaller aperture… Too bad youtube doest let you see EXIF files.

  • twitch28

that does seem like its been blured a bit on photoshop, cause in the next photo the hils look sharper, these videos are awesome.

  • muusers

    @muusers 3:22 that is…

  • muusers

Gavin, the photo at 3:25 in your video shows a beautifull background blur behind your lovely daughter. Is that pure because of the large aperture or did that take any post processing?

  • mrtorro

    you’re great, 10x

Hi, thanks for this amazing video. What I wanted to ask is what basic editing you used in photoshop after this session. I like the colour tone that you gave to these photos. hope that someone can help me.

  • jvwsocial

i can only say awesome video. The pictures are amazing

  • eddye85

you only may want to use flash in sunny days whenever u want to fill the darker areas in a photo… most of the time it is used in portraits…
Its just like a fill in.

  • aquaphotoboy

WOW! I love the vignetting effect on the photos, thanks for making these fantastic videos.

  • aquaphotoboy

@PoppyRoxxx Canon of course! If you want to take wonderful images, you have to use Canon. If you want just “so so” images, then use Nikon :-)

  • rblira2

i enjoyed this video so much–informative and entertaining at the same time. Wow. Thanks!
