i think the reason it looked odd is because the photo had probably already been photo shopped! Very good though!!!

The eye on the left here looks fractionally bigger to me already as it should be given the angle of the photo.
If you have to change the eyes I would have pulled the bottom eyelid down a touch possibly.

As well that photo is probably copyrighted.
Using someone obscure might have been a better idea?

Tutorial is great, I have nothing to say, but you picked almost a perfect picture and it looks like you are just looking for blemishes, why not picking a picture that truly need retouch and show some result.
