What is the cheapest VoIP provider that I can port a number to?

At $250 for the kit and $40 to port, I would hope there would be better options than ooma. I have my [old] number with Vonage now, but would like to switch to something cheaper, like MagicJack.

I would recommend Phone Power, the first month including them shipping you the device is $32.88. You can also save a few bucks going through http://www.voiprater.com they generally post any discounts or coupon codes etc. if they are available. You will also get a free second phone lined during the current promotion.

As for Vonage, sometimes they are a pain to get to switch your phone number over to any other service. If you had it before and ported to them then it is pretty easy to get them to release it again. Good luck in your search!
