How do you restore an iMac to its original settings?

Filed in iPhone 1 comments

I have an iMac G4, and would like to restore it to its original settings like when you first got it.
Does any know how to do this?
F.Y.I. – I don’t have the OSX discs so is there a way to do this without the discs?

    Nope you need the disks.

If you still have Tiger (OS X 10.4) on it you can order replacement start up disks from Apple for $20-30 (depending on where you live and what model you have). If at some point the iMac was upgraded to Leopard (10.5) and you don’t have that disk, you will need to re-buy OS X: it’s $129 on Apple.Com and a few bucks cheaper on Amazon.

Other than that, you are limited to removings files and settings one by one. Not fun at all.

The replacement disks are easy to get, easy to install, and cheap. That’s your best bet.

    Good luck!
