Where can I find rubber Cement??
Went to Lowes & Radio Shack and I could find it. Asked employees in both stores and they looked at me like, WHAT??

will use this video for reference. I’m going to take out the old 160GB HDD to put in a 500GB HD. Built PC’s in the past but never taken apart my iMac. A but nervous though.
I just need to get the Torx bit set and the rubber cement for the temp sensor for the HDD.

what version of iMac was this done on? I have a 4.1, very early 2006 20″ model that needs this upgrade.

Hello Elliot, thanks for taking the time for all to learn this.
I have a Mac that has a black vertical bar appearing/disappearing with no obvious reason.
Have you hear about this problem? Maybe a tip on what cables/components to check? Thanks for your attention.

Cheers Elliot, followed your video and now have a working 1TB drive in my, previously dead, iMac. All at 1/6 the price of Apple!!
Nice one!!!

Great video, thanks for uploading. But why would Apple make it so you have to remove the LCD just to LOOK at the hard drive, let alone replace it?

It is a SATA drive and I guess a glue gun would work (although it might not read the temp correctly afterwards)

You can also find the serial number in System Profiler. Go to the Apple and click on About This Mac. Then click on the “More Info…” button. It should appear at the bottom of the Hardware Overview.
