regarding the spiel at 1:04 – it’s a continuation of the original statement, “…But it’s not just the main fault line that has the potential to be deadly, HUNDREDS OF SPLAYS FEED OFF IT, and Cecil Gonzales’ home was built above one of them.”
Splays is a geological term. CNN largely objective with scientific facts guys, cmon.

  • cedcoolet

I think the narrator said “Hundred of slaves in office” 1:04

Oh I’ve seen how concrete is mixed and poured in the Philippines. Really bad. I fully expect one or more of the towers to fall. unreinforced hollow blocks on walls on low buildings are common. It will be really bad

  • matsjc23

cant believe you guys are more concerned with the reporter saying the word slave than spreading this news. -_-”

@fenton0516 i dont think she said slaves. It sure sounded like it thugh, but its not, and I cannot make out what it is she actually said.

What I noticed was she used the word “carnage”, and the way she ended her report with “Its little comfort for a city thats only too aware its time will eventually come.”

Honestly, this is ridiculous I really think that the politicians should be ashamed of the fact that Philippines is already known as a country that is filled with corruption. I think this should be lesson learned really, considering the government already knows this could happen soon. Like c’mon they’ve been warned 4 years ago and what have they done? A whole lot of nothing obviously. They could have prepared even a little by now if they started then, but the politicians picked fame over lives.

  • vic1300
