Playing Music In Ventrilo (With Windows 7/Vista Fix and Bot Tutorial)

Filed in Uncategorized 25 comments

With the help of two other programs, you can play music to others in Ventrilo while speaking to them at the same time. Your music will be very high quality and no other sounds on your computer will be picked up. Song is Mystery by Station X Full VAC Download: www.megaupload.com Buy it if you like it! Support the developer! Winamp: www.winamp.com Other Media Players that work Foobar2000: www.foobar2000.org Xion xion.r2.com.au Let me know if you find any others that work. BEFORE YOU ASK FOR HELP, READ THE VAC.CHM FILE INCLUDED IN THE DOWNLOAD! IF YOU WANT TO RUN A MUSIC BOT, READ HERE Create a Shortcut for Ventrilo, right click it and hit properties. At the end of the “Target” box, add “-m” without the quotes so the shortcut target now reads “C:\Program Files\Ventrilo\Ventrilo.exe” -m This allows you to open more than one Vent at the same time with the shortcut. Open two vents. Configure one the way you’d normally use it, with your microphone as the Input. Make the other Vent (your bot) use VAC’s Line 1 for its Input. Configure Winamp as shown in the video. No Audio Repeaters are needed for this setup. Get both of your Vent clients into the same server and channel. Be sure to check “Mute Sound” on your bot’s Vent window. Now when you play music in Winamp, your bot will play it and you can listen through Vent along with your friends. HERE’S ANOTHER OPTIONAL TUTORIAL TO ALLOW YOU TO PLAY AUDIO FROM OTHER SOURCES: First you have to open up everything you DO NOT want audio
Video Rating: 4 / 5

Hey um.. im on xp and i set it all up but only im hearing it and also my name speaker is always green so it shows it’s on but no one else can hear it. You know what i am doing wrong?

  • Boboboy00

Give the advanced tutorial in the description a shot. It allows you to use music from other programs, although as the name implies, it’s a little big harder to setup for some people. Seeing as you wrote out your comment using complete sentences though, I’m sure you can do it. Just let me know if you need some help.

You might not have much knowledge on this, but do you know of a way to playback music from the Zune Player? Most of if not all of my songs belong in the Zune Library, but there’s no option to change the line from speaker to another line. Also, I can’t use the song files in another player because I own them under the Zune Pass, which has limitations to usage. Should I deal with it and use regular song files from now on with Winamp, or is there a way?

Amazing tutorial. Very intuitive and it was working in under 10 minutes. Thank you so much. :)

    thank you mate<3

People can still hear my mic through vent and I have done everything correctly.

I’m not sure if Spotify will natively allow you to send its output to another source. Check out the options. I’ve never even used it so I’m not sure if user-made addons exist. If they do, you could research a bit into that. Otherwise you could use the optional tutorial in the description to use sounds from other programs. It’s a bit more advanced, but those are the only ideas I have.

can i do this somehow with spotify

  • Rasiel1337

Your toturial is one of the best, thank you very much for what you’ve done here. You would get 20 thumps up from me.

  • dkmirishman

@TheRSDawg i’m having the exact same problem using windows 7 64 bit. i uninstalled and reinstalled VAC making sure i had correctly done the 64 bit setup.

  • OlloX3

@Boboboy00 It worked, thank you! Example of enabling line1 in line2:

audiorepeater.exe /Input:”Line1 (Virtual Audio Cable)” /Output:”Line2 (Virtual Audio Cable)” /Autostart

  • Boboboy00

Check out the vac.chm file included in the download. That help file is extremely thorough and should help you out with that. Check out the tab “Audio Repeater application” on the left. That includes many command line options you can use, including one to AutoStart the repeater and one to automatically minimize the repeater to the tray. Check it out and let me know how it goes.

  • OlloX3

Thank you so much for this!
By the way, is there anyway to install these “repeater” programs as services? Since i hate turning on them all once i rebooted my computer or whatever. I was thinking about adding them to startup but it doesnt work since i need to turn on everything else manually. Is there like command line options for this Audio Repeater program?

  • TheRSDawg

@Boboboy00 I found out what the problem was with the VAC, it turns out i had a file of it wondering around my program files so i justed deleted tryed reinstalling it and it is working now and still thanks for making a great vid :)

  • Boboboy00

Hmm, somethings not right here. First off, you shouldn’t need to do that Driver step if you’re indeed using a 32 bit OS. First could you verify which OS you’re using? And are you running Setup in the VAC 10 folder and letting Virtual Audio Cable install?

  • TheRSDawg

Ok so I did your Driver step in your description and I restarted my computer twice and I ran the 32-bit control panel (x86) and it says Driver not loaded, please reply or send me a private message on how to fix this problem or at least give me some advice thanks. and good vid thumbs up.

  • Yang331

    thanks i got this rolling

  • chaosblast09

what if i want to up, i know how to clone i mean if i want the bot in one room and another just for me to talk in another

  • nightsinder

Good guide, it worked for me :)

  • sgtmas2006

Thank you for this. I am talking to dark on The Tech Game about buying us a ventrillo server ^-^ Deffinantly a channel for me :)

  • vonk0126

You dont need 3 of them bring up another vent and make another thing like mine is v0nK’s music bot. and it only does line1 to line 2 much easier than having 3 and it interrupts when you talk.

  • Boboboy00

I expanded on what I told you and put it in the description. It’s a little more advanced, but if you know how this all works you shouldn’t have any real issues. Good luck with it. Just remember that you’re trying to isolate Firefox’s sound.

  • Boboboy00

If you change your default Playback device in your sound settings to Line 1 or Line 2 and restart firefox, everything will be played to those lines. Unfortunately that still might pick up extra sounds that you don’t want people to hear, like any other programs or system sounds. If you’re going to do this, make sure you set your Ventrilo output device to your Speakers, otherwise you’ll pick up their voices too.

  • davidkolo

would it be possible to change the audio output device of certain programs such as firefox to let me play songs from youtube over programs like skype n ventrillo? can i do this with a 3rd party program?

  • AeaqR

Hey, I’m having a problem where I can’t connect the Audio Repeater to my speakers. I don’t think that they’re transferring in the correct format, how do I correct that with VAC?
