Video Rating: 4 / 5

Visit www.myownserver.info for more details. This tutorial shows you how to install Drupal 6.13 on a Windows XAMPP 1.7.1 local web server. If you’re using XAMPP 1.7.2, see my tutorial on how to install 1.7.1 along side and then share MySQL databases and htdocs folder.

I followed the steps and it worked beautifully! I also found that I can go into the .xml file and make changes there and upload that to the server without having to recreate the slideshow. Thank you for sharing.

could you put a div around the slide show player, and change the whole size of the player in dreamweaver? Also, if you wanted to add more pictures to a slide show you already have, do you have to redo this whole process over?

  • VegaOmega23

Can someone PLEEEEEEASE help me and tell me how to fix this? I keep getting this error: Unable to find the plugin that handles this media type. Dreamweaver looks in both the “Configurations/Plugins” folder, and the plugins folder for each of your installed browsers.

  • shakaama

@networknerd007 ok so it looks like:

    ; error_reporting
    ; Default Value: E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE
    ; Development Value: E_ALL | E_STRICT
    ; Production Value: E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED

what am changing, it looks the same already.

  • networknerd007

@shakaama Try changing your error reporting level in your php.ini file. Go to your xampp directory and the php.ini file should be in the php folder.

    Locate the line that says something like error_reporting = E_ALL and change E_ALL to: E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED
The errors you’re probably getting are E_DEPRECATED, so if you suppress those, the errors should disappear.

  • shakaama

the problem with this tutorial is that you have already configred your drupal and got none of the ONE BILLION error messages that drupal gives to new usuers. I’ve done this many many many many many many times. And drupal gives nothing but errors on every page at least 35 times, even when there’s only 2 options on the page.

I’ve tried every database imaginable. it does absolutely no justice to the rep that drupal have, to totally nut shot new users the way they do.

  • VitaminCM

Cool tutorial. I use XAMPP on my local machine to test things out before I implement them on my production web server.
    Thanks,
    Chris

thanks for this, i needed before, but i’m sure alot of people will find this video useful.

i’ve installed 6.14, xampp 1.7.1 on an xp media edition pc. i used winrar, no issues.

xampp 1.7.2+ will not work with drupal 5 or 6 due to php versioning. i believe it will work with drupal 7. not sure though.
