  • Romancingdashadow

Yes “backup stuff” means any photos.music, video or docuements etc you want to keep. Listen I REAlY suggest you find a friend with a bit more PC knowledge to assist you.

  • Romancingdashadow

and what does the reformatting CD look like? is it purple? …This rings Alarm bells! …good on you for having a go but I have a feeling your out of your depth.
Best way to find out if you have the right disc is PUT IT IN THE CD TRAY! & see if its the XP disc .Also you need to get the Audio & Video drivers for your motherboard ..goodluck! Remember to backup your stuff 1st!

What you should do or can do .
1: You should go an purchace a copy
2: or you can go to a torrent site & d/ll a copy.If you choose this path, you will also need an activation crack (if you are using that pc to go o/l) which you can also d/l.
    Goodluck

  • thatsharkeyguy

what should you do if your pc didnt come with XP Disks?!

    xx

  • Romancingdashadow

Yes you can install any OS on your pc as long as your hardware specs match up. Example: Vista is more resource hungry and prefers min 1 gig memory where as XP will get by on 500mg memory. so google the OS you want to install and check the min required specs 1st. I personly have partitioned my drive and have a dual boot of XP & Vista (soon to be updated to windows 7 by me)

  • van11695

when you reformat your PC, can it be possible to change its operating system?

  • hille32

    Every brand is different.
    My key is F12.
    Just reformattet :)

  • Romancingdashadow

Some pc’s have a different command to get into bios Examples:Esc:
    Toshiba
F1: Toshiba; Phoenix; some IBM PS/1 models.
    F10: Compaq.
    F2: NEC.
    Insert: IBM PS/2.
    Tab: eMachines.
Type in to google Bios entery + (name of your pc) to find which key to use

  • pckidtuts

I don’t seem to be able to get to bios:(

  • Romancingdashadow

You probably have a Sata drive & with SATA drives, you have to load drivers so the setup can recognize the hard disk drives. Look for a message like : “Press F6 to load…” I forgot the whole message. Press F6 and then you will have to press ‘S’ to search for drivers on externals disks. You should have SATA drivers ready on some external disk or a floppy disc.
if this is to baffling for you, seek out an I.T. person to help.

  • Spartan117rockz

  • 28monkeyking28

i was trying to install windows onto a new harddrive.. it didn’t “work” so i put my working hdd in and it wouldn’t boot past the initial windows xp splash screen… so it’s stuck between that and the welcome screen and it’s black O_O… / i’ll clean my discs up right now and see if that helps

  • Romancingdashadow

Most likly your disc is dirty.Check for fingerprints and clean.Otherwise it may just be that the disc is corrupt.

  • 28monkeyking28

hey..after the cd runs and loads all the files it needs it says “setup is starting windows”. i reformatted countless times before and it worked..but the more recent formats…. it doesn’t load after that appears. the cd stops moving and it’s stuck there.. any solutions ? thanks =]

  • TOMMY95215

    i hate linux

  • e0jt0gym

    Windows IS a virus :)

Love the Shirt and the Ubuntu advice keep up the good work.
Don’t like her?! What’s wrong with her? She’s beautiful, she’s rich, she’s got huge… tracts of land.

  • OsodeCaram3lo

    Nice Vid!

  • realboran

Very recently I found this distro – TRK. Trinity Rescue Kit. You can use TRK as (a) data recovery tool (b) Windows admin password recovery tool (c) Windows virus fix tool. Its very small in size. Download it and experience. Have fun!!

  • MustacheVerra

@realboran Hey thanks much for the tip.

  • virgoptrex

I cannot help but notice that blue eyelids……it freaked me out a bit! Your shirt looks like the Windows Blue screen of death!

  • realboran

Better than using Ubuntu, why dont you use TRK? Just download the latest version and scan for the poor Windows viruses. TRK is build for curing Windows alterations. Try that.

  • Android29

One thing I might add is from the ClamTK Virus Scanner interface go to Help | Check for Updates | then click the Check for Updates button. Just so you have the latest and greatest Virus Defs. Rock on Nixie ! Thanks for the huge tracts of land and the educational videos ;-)

  • djosxx

    Good video.
You won’t find windows virus on linux and could possibly cure another PC with windows and virus using remote desktop functionnality.
    Bye

  • Deliciousfruit233

@bustedbit lol that’s what I did. Best decision of my life.

  • AshleyJColeman

    @ihall4
I have windows 7 from off to loaded and the hard drive and processor idle in 30 seconds. I have full visual themes. I have a 5 year old graphics card, 2GB of 800MHz ram and a core 2 2.2ghz processor. If you know how to optimize windows yourself it is amazing. And I stay away from 64 bit, it causes so many problems :(

  • ihall4

@AshleyJColeman it barely works not reliable defiantly not fast and the windows 7 64bit version filesystem cache is configured to use 4 thousand gigabye plus ram

  • AshleyJColeman

Only place I use linux is on my itouch (simply because windows needs an x86 emulator and its slow as hell), I used to love linux, but it just makes life 100 times harder for me now. I Dont see what people have against windows, it work, its reliable, and fast if you use it correctly and optimize. And 99% of viruses come from pornographic sites, so quite simply use a proxy turn of javascript and erase your cookies afterwards with spybot.

  • spizec

    @ihall4 Hhhhmm.. I guess?

  • ihall4

@spizec then rebuild it using superglue like dell does with its pc’s

  • spizec

@ihall4 How would you do step one if your computer is in pieces?

  • MustacheVerra

How reliable is this trick here?

  • ihall4

how to cure a windows virus
    1. throw the pc out the window
    2. delete windows and install linux
    3. assassinate bill gates

  • cwhitney24

    Love the shirt….my favorite movie

  • Ray0X0

    @t3hOutlaw Hey!… is a girl ok?

  • tinfoil010

you will want to use firestarter to set the ip tables, so you don’t get rapped as bad on the net. ( a live cd has no updates )

  • maxrocks1

I LOVE the title. Keep up the good work!

  • BlueGiant69202

I have an infected Laptop and when I tried using an Ubuntu Live CD the computer was shut off when the anti-virus had been running for about a minute or so. I tried a Knoppix live CD and it was ejected and a dialog box asked that the disc be removed.
